The cauldron is lit: the Granfondo La Fausto Coppi Generali is ready to go
The lighting of the Olympic cauldron officially opened the 37th edition of the Granfondo La Fausto Coppi Generali. A day packed with events enlivened the center of Cuneo, leading athletes, residents, and enthusiasts toward the most anticipated moment: the start of the granfondo.
The afternoon began in the Hall of Honor of the Town Hall with official greetings and a welcome from the Ambassador of Denmark, the host country of the 2026 edition. Subsequently, the traditional parade along Via Roma, graced by the presence of marching bands and international representatives, captivated the public all the way to Piazza Galimberti, where the lighting of the cauldron officially kicked off the event.
The celebrations then continued with a concert by the bands of Bernezzo, Demonte, and Ventimiglia, which brought together over one hundred musicians in one great performance, giving the city a moment of music and fellowship.
The evening concluded with a performance by the Fiamme Gialle champions who played a leading role in the Milan-Cortina Olympics: Dorothea Wierer, Davide Ghiotto, Andrea Giovannini, Michele Malfatti, Pietro Sighel, Andrea Cassinelli, and Chiara Betti. Moderated by Sky Sport journalist Federica Frola, the athletes shared with the audience the emotions, sacrifices, and successes they experienced on the Olympic stage.
Now the wait is over. Everything is ready for tomorrow, when the 37th edition of the Granfondo La Fausto Coppi Generali will start at 7:00 a.m. from Piazza Galimberti.
