Regulation

1. IDENTITY

La Fausto Coppi Granfondo is an international competitive cycling marathon held in the Alps mountain range of north western Italy now in its 35th edition. A limitation of 3000 places will be applied to the Granfondo in 2024.

2. DATE

Sunday June 30th, 2024

3. MEETING

Cuneo, Piazza Galimberti.

  • 5.45 am opening time of the desk for the race pack and document collection
  • 6.15 am grid opening (only competitors with a red bracelet will be able to access it)
  • 6.30 am closing time of desk for the race pack and document collection.

4. DEPARTURE

departure at 07:00.

5. STARTING AREA / SOLIDARITY GRID

those riders who wish to ride in support of the project “Save
the mountain roads” can purchase an increased entry fee that will be entirely donated to the Project. This entry fee allows them to start in front in a separate grid. Charity entry fee costs 120,00 € and it is limited to 200 places.

6. MEDIOFONDO 111km / 2510 m+

Cuneo, Cervasca, Bernezzo, Caraglio, Valgrana, Monterosso
Grana, Pradleves, Castelmagno, Demonte, Valdieri, Borgo San Dalmazzo, Cuneo.

7. GRANFONDO 177km / 4125 m+

Cuneo, Tarantasca, Busca, Costigliole di Saluzzo, Piasco, Venasca,Brossasco, Valmala, Rossana, Villar san Costanzo, Dronero, Montemale, Valgrana, Monterosso Grana, Pradleves, Castelmagno, Demonte, Valdieri, Borgo San Dalmazzo, Cuneo.

8. FAUNIERA CLASSIC (non-competitive) 101km / 2187 m+

Demonte, Moiola, Gaiola,Roccasparvera, Borgo San Dalmazzo. This is a route that avoids the Madonna del Colletto climb, directly connecting the town of Festiona to the GF/MF route in Borgo San Dalmazzo. Access to thissection excludes the participant from the final ranking and from the awards ceremony by placing him in a list of names which certifies participation in the event. For everything else, the event regulations is applied.

9. REGISTRATION REGULATIONS

the event is open to all aged 19 to 79. Rider aged 70 to 79 are allowed to ride only the Mediofondo route. Registration can be considered completed and regularly carried out only by entering the following data on the Endu platform:

REGISTERED ATHLETE: 2024 cycling license and medical certificate for competitive cycling. (Considering that 2024 membership will begin in January, it is possible to register and indicate/upload the 2024 membership license later).
NON-REGISTERED ATHLETE: medical certificate for competitive cycling. Medical certificates for other sports such as triathlon, duathlon, athletics, etc. are not accepted.

10. DAILY LICENSE

riders without a cycling license will be able to activate a daily license at the price of €10.00 for insurance coverage during the event. This price may be subject to change. To issue the daily license, both for the Granfondo, the Mediofondo and Fauniera Classic, a medical certificate for competitive cycling is required.

11. TECHNOLOGICAL FRAUD

The event will apply the 2019 implementing rules for national cyclingand amateur cycling activities. Recalling the UCI and FCI Regulations, paragraphs 1.3.010 and 12.1.013 bis technological fraud, the competition jury, with the technical support of the organization, is authorized to carry out random or systematic checks. Non-compliance or refusal to undergo the required technical checks will result in immediate disqualification and reporting to the competent bodies. Furthermore, referring to the UCI and FCI Regulations (Implementing Regulations point 1.1.9.) it is made known that the use of any transceiver device is strictly prohibited.

12. ONLINE REGISTRATION

On the ENDU portal at https://api.endu.net/r/i/85038 until midnight on Tuesday June 25th (based on places availability). By registering, the rider declares: to be in possession of a valid medical certificate for physical eligibility for cycling sport activity; to be in possession of a valid license for competitive cycling issued by National Federations recognized by UCI; to have read, understood and fully accept this regulation. NB: registration will only be considered valid when the 2024 cycling license and medicalcertificate are uploaded onto the ENDU portal.

13. REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Deadline for registration: Tuesday June 25th at midnight (unless sold out before the date).

14. PARTICIPATION FEE

the participation fee includes the supply of the following services/goods: celebratory shirt of the event (it is mandatory to wear the 2024 shirt throughout the race under penalty of disqualification and request for abandonment of the competition), race number, mechanical assistance on the route, supplies, health assistance during the race, gifts, recovery in case of abandonment. The entry fee for the event is:

  • 500 places at € 50.00 until 15/09/2023 (unless sold out before)
  • € 60.00 until 31/12/2023
  • € 65.00 until 31/03/2024
  • € 75.00 until 25/06/2024 200 places at
  • €120.00 for registrations for the “SAVE THE MOUNTAIN ROADS” project with the right to start on the solidarity grid.

Cumulative registrations COMPANY: for cumulative registrations, 1 (one) free registration will be automatically recognized by the ENDU platform for every 10 paying athletes(11th free registration).

15. CANCELLATION OF PARTICIPATION

if a member is unable to participate in the event, the participation fee will be kept valid exclusively for the following year. The communication must be sent to iscrizioni@faustocoppi.net not later than June 31st 2024. The registration fee is nonrefundable.

16. CANCELLATION OF THE EVENT

Cases of impossibility of carrying out the event which lead to its cancellation are cases determinedby force majeure, unforeseeable circumstances, or any other type not attributable to the organisation, such as:

  • Atmospheric events such as, by way of example, snow, hail, storms, ice formation on the road or other meteorological conditions that make the performance impracticable;
  • Calamitous events such as, but not limited to, earthquakes, floods, large-scale fires, natural or manmade disasters;
  • Nefarious event to the detriment of one or more participants;
  • Measure or provision of the Public Authority, or of cycling promotion agency or sports federations;
  • Any other cause or event, not attributable to the Organizer, which makes it necessary to cancel the event.
  • Any fact or event, of natural origin or determined by man, which does not depend on the willful misconduct or fault of the Organizer or, in any case, upon the occurrence of which the Organizer did not maliciously or negligently contributed.
  • The cancellation of the event is communicated by the Organizer by email whose address was made known at the time of registration, or even just via social channels, as quickly as possible, in order to allow registered participants a timely knowledge and to avoid any inconvenience as much as possible
  • Where this is possible and in the absence of risk conditions, the Organizer will arrange for the event to be postponed to another date, promptly communicating this to those registered.
  • However, the Organiser’s right remains, where concrete conditions allow it, to allow the event to take place by changing the planned route, in order to avoid dangerous situations for the runners.
  • In case of impossibility of carrying out the event, for the reasons set out in the previous paragraphs, no amount will be due in refund to the registered participants

17. SIGN-IN AND DOCUMENTS COLLECTION

Sigh-in, document and race pack collection will take place in Cuneo in Piazza Galimberti on:

  • Friday 28 June 2024 – from 4pm to 8pm
  • Saturday 29 June 2024 – from 10.00 am to 8 pm
  • Sunday 30 June 2024 – from 05.45 to 06.30 am

NB: it is mandatory to show the original 2024 cycling license (also for groups or delegation) and the medical certificate for competitive cycling, otherwise the race package will be delivered without the race number and chip

18. ELECTRONIC CONTROLS

Checks by electronic controls are strictly mandatory, both at the start and along the routes.

19. TIMING

Please note: failure or incorrect use of the chip will result in non-inclusion in the ranking and nonattribution of the time spent.

20. MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

All participants must have the following equipment with them when entering the starting grids:

  • a set of tools for removing the tyre/tubular a spare inner tube (or tubular).
  • a pump (or can of compressed air) for inflating the wheels
  • a water bottle
  • a survival sheet and clothing suitable for high altitudes for sudden changes in weather conditions.
  • Chip for electronic timing control
  • The official celebratory shirt of the 2024 edition of the event
  • All participants, for the entire duration of the race, must wear an approved hard helmet and keep both the hard race number on the frame and the dorsal number on the jersey legibly attached.

21. REFRESHMENTS

There will be 5 refreshment points: Sanctuary of Valmala, La Piatta, Sanctuaryof Castelmagno, Colle Fauniera, Madonna del Colletto.

22. FOLLOWING VEHICLES

Assistance by private vehicles following one or more athletes along therace route is strictly prohibited.

23. ROAD CODE

The roads will be temporarily closed to traffic as per the Ordinance issued by the competent Prefecture. Absolute respect and observance of the traffic regulation code applies to each participant. In case of withdrawal it is strictly forbidden to travel down the slopes in the opposite direction to the race.

24. PARTICIPANT RECOVERY VAN

Vehicles are provided for the recovery of participants who intendto abandon the race. Means are also provided for loading bicycles which may not necessarily be contextual to the athlete’s recovery. ASD Fausto Coppi on the road does not assume responsibility in the event of any damage to bicycles during transport.

25. MAXIMUM TIME

Arrival in Cuneo in Piazza Galimberti within 10 hours of the official departure; those arriving after 5pm will not enter the rankings.

26. CUT-OFF TIME

Monterosso Grana-progressive km Granfondo 95 at 12.30 pm, Festiona-progressive km Granfondo 143 at 3.00 pm.

27. OVERALL RANKING

The results will be displayed in Piazza Galimberti in the immediate vicinityof the “Chip Point”. The rankings will subsequently be published on the website www.faustocoppi.net. After crossing the finish line, participants will have to go to the SDAM checkpoint to return the previously rented Chip.

28. COMPLAINTS

Any complaints must be received by the jury within the regulatory deadlines accompanied by the fee established according to the regulations of the sports promotion agency (ACSI).

29. AWARDS

prizes will be given to first three riders in the overall ranking, men and womem categories. and to the club with the largest number of registered participants. The awards ceremony forthe Mediofondo will take place starting from 11.30 am, that for the Granfondo starting from 2.30 pm.

30. CATEGORIES

La Fausto Coppi recognizes the following categories:

  • Elite Sport – 19/29 years Master 1 – 30/34 years
  • Master 2 – 35/39 years
  • Master 3 – 40/44 years
  • Master 4 – 45/49 years
  • Master 5 – 50/54 years
  • Master 6 – 55/59 years
  • Master 7 – 60/64 years
  • Master 8 – 65 to 79 years (after 70 years only Medio Fondo)
  • Elite Women Sport – 19/29 years
  • Master Women 1 – 30/39 years
  • Master Women – 40/49 years
  • Master Women 3 – 50 to 79 years (after 70 years only Medio Fondo)
  • Athletes with disabilities

31. DISQUALIFICATIONS

Following behavior will lead to disqualification: riding with the race number of another rider; not wearing the official 2021 Jersey; disposing of garbage of any kind on the race course, in this regard, eco-zones will be provided for the collection ofsolid waste (paper, bottles); Personnel responsible for verification will be present on the route ; failing to observe at all times during the race all traffic regulations in force; climbing over the barriers to move into a more advanced gate; failing to follow the race course

32. ETHICAL REQUIREMENT

: By signing and sending the registration form the competitor, togetherwith the representative of his team, self-certifies the non-existence of sporting, civil and/or criminal sanctions or ongoing investigations against him for facts relating to the doping and declares that hehas not taken – and does not take – substances included in the anti-doping list of the World Anti- Doping Agency (WADA) (http://www.wada-ama.org/Documents/World_Anti- Doping_Program/WADP-Prohibited-list/ 2013/WADAProhibited-List-2013-EN.pdf) The false self- certification will be prosecuted according to the law. The Organizing Committee also reserves the right to request damages by way of compensation or take legal action against competitors who cause damage to the image of the event through incorrect behavior in relation to sporting ethics orpositive results in anti-doping tests. Where the competitor belongs to a Sports Association,the latterwill be jointly obliged to pay any fine.

33. RISKS

the competitor acknowledges:

– that despite the organization’s clear commitment to guaranteeing participants the maximum safety reasonably possible, there are still residual risks (also called “sporting risks”);
which cannot be eliminated as they are intrinsic to the cycling discipline itself; to be aware that many other people will participate in the event, whose level of cycling skill and technique is unknown, and that therefore crowded situations could arise on the route which could increase the risk of accidents and clashes between participants;
that you have chosen to participate in the event on your own free initiative and under your own personal responsibility, aware that, as in any sporting event, there could be risks of injury or accident;
to fully assume responsibility for the so-called “sports risk”, making this decision with conscienceand reason. The competitor therefore considers himself solely responsible for riding the bicycle within the event in question, both along the route of the event and within the territory, obviously considering that this responsibility applies both towards himself and towards third party users. By virtue of this, it ACKNOWLEDGES that the organizers of the event have done everything possible, taking into account the regulations in force and the particular nature of the event and the sporting discipline of cycling, to make the event safe and avoid the occurrence of accidents and damage to people and things, also providing for an adequate safety plan in case of need and relieves the organizers, and all parties involved in various capacities in the event in question, from any civil, criminal and administrative liability for any harmful event that should happen or that one’s conduct should cause during the event. You declare to expressly and specifically accept, pursuant to and for the purposes of the articles. 1341 et seq. Civil Code, the clauses referred to in the points of this act.

34. DATA PROCESSING:

In relation to the information referred to in art. 13 of EU Regulation 679/2016, the competitor must declare that they have read the said information published on the website www.faustocoppi.net and that they have been informed of the mandatory consent to the relevant processing for the purposes indicated in the art. 2) of the aforementioned information, by selecting for acceptance the appropriate box in the online registration form for the purposes of processing personal data, aware that failure to consent to the processing of data for the purposes referred to in art. 2) of the information, will make it impossible to register for the activity in question.By consenting to the processing of their personal data, the competitor expressly authorizes ASD Fausto Coppi on the road, so that their data are also transmitted and processed by third parties whooffer services connected and linked to the Granfondo La Fausto Coppi, such as, for example , those having the purpose of timing the times, drawing up and announcing the lists of results and those having the purpose of photographing or filming the competitor. The data will also be processed by our partners ENGAGIGO srl and SDAM srl. Pursuant to art. 4 of EU Regulation 679/2016, processing means “any operation orset of operations,carried out with or without the aid of automated processes and applied to personal data or sets ofpersonal data, such as the collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation ormodification, extraction, consultation, use, communication by transmission, diffusion or any otherform of making available, comparison or interconnection, limitation , cancellation or destruction”. In relation to the lists of results and rankings, the publication of photos, videos, audio – and/or videorecordings of any type, the company will use such data and images of the athlete for internal andexternal use (various publications, sports films, for via electronic means and on the websitewww.faustocoppi.net). Asregardsimages and/or video recordings, the athlete may appear alone ortogether with other subjects during initiatives promoted by and for the association. The Organization must be authorized by the competitor to the aforementioned processing, who must be informed of the possibility of the right of revocation of the processing which he can exercise, at any time, with written communication to be sent to ASD Fausto Coppi on the road C.so Kennedy 5f12100 Cuneo.

35. CHANGES

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to make changes to these regulations by appropriately highlighting them on the website www.faustocoppi.net on the page called NEWS.The website www.faustocoppi.net will be considered the official communication body of the event.

37. GENERAL RULE

The Organizing Committee and the Organization decline all responsibility for accidents or damage to people, animals and things, including bicycles, of any kind and nature, which may occur before, during and after the Granfondo cycling event (i.e. by way of example, but not limited to, resulting from unfavorable weather conditions, rough or impervious road surface, insufficient lighting). Also for this purpose, participants who do not already have their own accident insurance policy arestrongly advised to activate one. By registering for the Granfondo, the member expressly accepts all the provisions of this regulation and undertakes to indemnify and hold harmless the Organizing Committee and, in general, the Organization, from any liability and from any claim and/or request for compensation for damage to people and/or things resulting from accidents, of any kind and nature, which may occur before, during and after the Granfondo. In the event that the Organizing Committee or the Organization were to be unsuccessful as a result of claims and/or requests for compensation from third parties for damage to people and/or things deriving from what is indicated in this article, the member undertakes to compensate the Organizing Committee and Organization. The member also undertakes to compensate the Organizing Committee and the Organization in the event of damage to the image and reputation of the overall event, of the Organizing Committee and of the Organisation, resulting from the behavior of the member himself which does not comply with the rules. of this regulation and to the spirit of the event. By signing the registration form, the competitor expressly declares, under his own responsibility, to be in possession of the medical certificate pursuant to the Ministerial Decree. dated 18.02.1982, that I have read this regulation, unconditionally accepting it in every point and express my consent to the use of my personal data pursuant to Legislative Decree no. 196/2003.
