Hot Saturday… just a few hours and we’re there

Incredible heat, but also a lot of trepidation and anticipation for what will be tomorrow, with the return to Colle di Sampeyre for the Granfondo, and the over 2,400 cyclists who will challenge our splendid Alps. In the meantime, today, Saturday 28, the village here in Piazza Galimberti is more alive than ever: the Ceremony of the Nations kicked off the activities with the fantastic parade of colors, flags and smiles that flocked here to Cuneo from half the world. Now that the flame of the brazier of the Granfondo La Fausto Coppi Generali has been officially inaugurated and lit, it seems even more real.

Cuneo Bike Festival has curated two more talks, widening the area of interest up to OPEN BALADIN. The Ghisallo museum and the parade of elegance thrilled athletes and onlookers with their costumes and vintage bikes and, with the enveloping heat of this early summer, the food&beer area had its work cut out to quench the thirst of many, many people here.

The Dinner of Tradition and the concert of Bistrò Dalfin, in collaboration with Occit’amo Festival, are underway. The square is alive and warm for a few more hours, then the great silence before tomorrow morning. At 7 everything will stop for a moment and then the start, as always, of the unique splash of color of 2400 identical jerseys and the whirlwind of 4800 pedals moving together: all united in the emotion of this unique Sunday of bikes and sport.
